Overview
A great day in the Deckers area, sunny skies, warm weather and feeding fish!
Current Conditions
After a long night at the 2010 Fly Fishing Film Tour, a nice afternoon on the river the following day was a great relief. The weather on Sunday was partly cloudy with a high between 50 degrees in the sun and around 40 degrees in the shade. I fished primarily from Night Hawk Hill up to the Deckers store, as crowds above Horse Creek were thick and abundant. Fishing was very productive when feeding fish could be found. Sometimes it would be an hour between fish, but once I was able to locate a whole with actively feeding fish, things got good fast. Most fish were taken on either small black and red midges, or pheasant tails around a size 16. Worms worked as an attractor, but never were what the fish ultimately ate. Fishing the sunnier spots also proved to be key, as these seemed to be where the bug life was more prevelent.
