Overview
Flows are finally starting to drop making the Lower Blue a prime fall fishing destination
Current Conditions
After months of high flows and difficult wading, water levels are starting to drop on the Lower Blue. Although this will come as a dissapointment to boaters, wade fisherman should be thankful and excited that fishing conditions will be prime for the rest of the fall season. Don't let the wintery weather fool you, this section of river is a great year round fishery that holds large brown and rainbow trout; the catch, it isn't going to be the easiest wading you've ever done. But for those that are willing to brave the elements and challenging conditions will be awarded with a world class Colorado trout fishing experience. Come prepared with a wide assortment of bugs, as this is one of the most fertile sections of water in the state. Expect to see fish keying in on stones, BWO's, baetis, midges, eggs, worms and even scuds. Nymphing will be the most effective technique due to the low water temps, and general scarcity of insect life. Where the fish lie will be entirely dependent on the weather, so be sure to do a little research before you make the journey... better yet, call the shop and we'll be happy to give you the low down to ensure you have a memorable day on the water.
