Overview

Although the fishing is tough, the Eagle is still well worth the trip.

Current Conditions

It's low water season on the Eagle, so you better bring your A-Game. Fish are feeding, they are just much more selective than they are earlier in the year. Use stealthy approaches, light leader and tippet and small flies. Time of day is also important as the fish are feeding much more actively during the cooler mornings and evenings. Mid day fishing will be slow and tough, but nymphing the fast riffle water will produce some decent results. Also consider going down stream as the summer ends and fall begins. The river from Wolcott to Dotsero is littered with good public access, and the fishing in the latter part of the year is much better than the upper river.
